Today, Sony demonstrated that you will eventually be able to slide a Blu-ray disc into your PlayStation 3 console and copy it to either your PlayStation Portable or a memory stick.
"This way, you can have a portable copy you can take with you," explains David Bishop, who is the President of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. "There was always the promise of greater interactivity. You'll see that coming in the new year," Bishop added.
Sony also demonstrated for the audience how you can now copy and download media such as ringtones to a BD Live player. They used Men In Black for this demonstration.
BD Live has been one of Sony’s bigger headline catchers at CES 2008. With Panasonic announcing the BD Live player yesterday and Fox presenting an Alien Vs Predator multiplayer game at the Blu-ray Disc Association’s booth, it has caused a nice stir for the Sony camp.
Sony also revealed a Men In Black interactive trivia game which was being played by two different people on a PlayStation 3 in two different locations.

Nice one.
This talks more about other stuff than the title, slightly informing in general but not really. Probably copied and pasted.
i cant beleive it.
Whoa no way. Pardon me french but that is just ****ing kool. But won't this arouse some piracy issues?
Great Idea! I like this idea much better than MS idea of movie download only approach. It only takes one faulty harddrive and then all of your movies are into oblivion. This is much better...you have a hardcopy that looks good on your shelf....and you can transport on a memory stick...awesome!
Nice! lets hope we can copy our movies onto the PS3 hard drive
I cant believe this.
go blu
psn id: gingo... wow looks like blu ray has a lot more secrets stil to come out that we didnt know about, seriously looking forward to the interactivity features
Wow... all I can say is get ready to see some of my blu-rays on mininova, lol
you know what I find interesting? BluRay Discs are BD-Roms. Not BRD's but BDR's. That's different. LOL. It's nice to see companies starting to make some sense. Why shouldn't we be allowed to make legal copies of our media? It doesn't make sense if you have, say a dvd at home. Then you want to take one with you, but leave the original at home so it doesn't get ruined. On top of that you own a PSP and you want to play it on there too. You shouldn't have to buy 3 copies of the same d**n thing.
Can everyone just please burn their HD DVD stuff now and all stores just stop selling HD DVD players and movies. Why prolong the inevitable. I want my Transformers on Blu Ray already
i cant wait untill it comes out alot of good stuff coming out for the new year
That would be a great addition to the multimedia center intention that Sony has. I wonder if there are more tricks to come?
nice, really nice, can't wait for this one!!!!!!!!!
if u can do that then hopefully u can do that with older ps games
This is a great way to get people to buy blu-ray instead of downloading of the web. Also im sure youll see sales spikes for psp and ps3.
So can you copy the blu-ray into your hard drive? Im thinking you can because it gives you and option when you copy videos.
That'd be an awesome feature...requiring most people with PSPs to upgrade their memory sticks.
this is what i have been and still am waiting for. this will save having to muck about with the PC and should be a lot quicker
I wonder how big the memory stick needs to be to save a Blu-Ray to the PSP. I know they could downgrade the video and save some space... but that file would still have to be fairly large.
would be great if they did a dvd ripper for the ps3(dvd to ps3hdd). I'm so tired of dealing with nero's broken software.
best idea ever, even more of a reason to have both the ps3 and the psp. i don't know of another 2 gaming systems that interacted so well together. it's amazing.
sounds like a great idea but how much will memory will this take???
isn't a Blu-ray about 50Gigs?? the biggest MS i hear is about 16Gb
i wonder how they're going to pull this off....
