Get your roll on with Blu-ray!

Posted on October 28th, 2007 at 16:55 EDT

One thing that became extremely popular in the late 90s and early portion of the 2000s is the ability to play DVDs in your automobile.

Made hip by the rappers and later integrated into the mainstream society, the ability to play video in your car has become almost a staple with people looking to add steroids to their vehicles.

With Blu-ray dominated the market against HD DVD, it is only fitting that Blu-ray takes that next step to ensure that you get top quality high def experience outside your home and into your car.

Recently at the 2007 Toyko Motor Show, Panasonic revealed what is to be the first ever Blu-ray player that is used primarily inside your motor vehicle. The player has support for all Blu-ray features including BD-Java playback and connects to a LCD screen via a HDMI cable. Currently there is no price or release date for the player, but please be sure to hear more on this in the near future.

Interesting enough, fans should spot that the players strongly resembles that of Panasonic’s BD-10 Blu-ray player, which is a welcoming sight.

To the right, you can see the all new vehicle ready Blu-ray player and display.

Be sure to continuously check back with PSU, as we will bring you more on the latest developments of Blu-ray.

the in car video for customization fad has come and gone. adding blu ray to small 6inch screens is pointless.

the fad developed into useful entertainment in family sedans and vans for kids. needless to say i doubt kids are asking there parents for an HD source.

I stoked because now card dvd players will plummet in price and I have wanted one of those for a while. But why in the world would i spend a grand on a blu-ray player on a 6 to 10 inch screen when it is going to be viewed from 4 feet away?? Dvd is good enough in the car for me.

All Blu-ray needs right now is a cheap stand-alone player. HD-DVD is nearing that, and if Blu-ray want to win, they need to make a very cheap one. For an example 150$ player.

xomniac, I dont think the point is really the HD aspect, the point is to be able to play the movies you bought for your house player, on the go.

If everyone converts to BluRay, then eventually newer movies will stop coming out on DVD, at that point any in-car DVD player will be useless for new movies.

This simply provides 'future' compatibility.

Can't really say who started putting screens in their cars, but I doubt it was rappers. Sounds cool, but I think they need to win this "war" first.
