Take-Two has confirmed that the un-edited copy of Manhunt 2 for PlayStation 2 that made its way onto the Internet last month was leaked by a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
The un-rated version of the game – which has been banned in the UK and underwent subsequent editing in North America – appeared for download on the Internet in September this year.
Speaking in a statement issued to GamePolitics, Take-Two explains the source of the leak:
“Take-Two Interactive has confirmed that a former employee of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has acknowledged his responsibility for the unauthorized online distribution of an unrated play-test version of Manhunt 2 submitted for the European PAL PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system”
The report also states that the employee in question has been sacked as a result of his actions.
An edited version of Manhunt 2 is scheduled for release in North America for PS2, PSP and Wii on October 31.

He essentially stole several years work and gave it away for free.
If you worked in PC world and walked out with several dozen copies you would be lucky to get away with the sack, he's lucky he's not been charged with theft.
Why should i buy a censored version of a game? it's stupid, it's a game for crying outloud.... what about horror movies then? shoulden't we ban all movies where people are murdered and make a censored version of them with flowers and rainbows?? grow up damit!

They should just release both versions. One for the stores that dont sel AO games, and the other so that us adults can play. That would do two thing....1st it would allow the people to play the true game, 2nd....it would show those sensoring bastards that we want the real game, not some watered down version.

Well I've had the leak version since the beginning of this month....the only gay thing is that its PAL, but my PS2 can handle any region PS2 game :P . Yeah the guy who got just got fired got off easy....he might have gotten charged if the unedited version was the one being released. And its not a matter of stores not being able to sell the game... Sony and Nintendo will not allow the game to be released for their consoles with an AO rating. I am surprise none of you heard this already. I want them to release the US verison to I can compare and see what was edited.

I hope it's still up in the dark corners of the Internet. Might have to "tweak" my PS2 a bit but it should work. Even though I'm still buying the legal copy day one.
Why would I be interested in this drivvle when there are so many more games out there that actually have something to offer besides murder and brutality? I love the graphic headshot as much as the next guy, but come on, if Resistance had no blood/gore it would still be a great game, if Manhunt had no blood/gore then it wouldnt exist. It is sad that a game has to really on shock value to entertain. So I will definitely pass on this one, bring on Haze!
