David Zucker, CEO of Midway has stated that the company are still concerned over sales of Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, but felt the recent USD 100 price cut would prove instrumental in boosting uptake for the next-generation system, if only for a short period of time.
Speaking during an interview with Gamesindustry.biz this week, Zucker conceded, "We would not be the only publisher to tell you that we're a little concerned about the take-up of the PS3.”
Despite this, Zucker remained confident on the success that slashing USD 100 off the price of PS3 would have for the console, but expressed reservations on the longevity of a price cut:
"Anytime you get a hundred dollar price on hardware it will improve sales. The question is, is it enough? Will there be more?”, he observed.
Elsewhere, he also detailed forthcoming PS3 releases Unreal Tournament 3 and Stranglehold, the latter of which will be bundled with the Hard Boiled movie.
"When you go back to last year's E3, one of the first titles that were shown on Sony's PS3 was Unreal Tournament. So, it has always been a big title for the PS3," he said.
Stranglehold and Unreal Tournament 3 are scheduled to ship for PlayStation 3 later this year; the latter will remain an exclusive to Sony’s console until 2008 as part of a timed exclusivity deal. Expect full coverage of both games here at PSU in the near future.

Let it be, it'll sell itself but my concern is letting people down by postponing or pushing games back to next month or so, it's not cool at all....
That Bob Saggot looking guy should be patneit. Didn't he see the PS3 sales spike over the past few weeks?
Pffft, and when was the last time midway made a decent game? I'm sorry but a company like midway shouldn't be commenting on poor sales
i have to agree with Dark_falcon115, Midway shouldn't be concerned with the PS3 sales. THey should be worry about their own developmental problem, they haven't had any A-Class title in their line up for a while now!
Ps3 needs games. How do you not get you product out ON-TIME but take shot's at sony, If ya'll weren't doing all these interviews and worked on the games then it will sell, people are WANT good games already out before they but the system, their minds are already set their just waiting on the one game that seals the deal, Go to work and make games so I can buy and play it is so simple.I really feel that these guys are a bunch of what have you done lately type, any one who made a game on ps2 knows that sony helped you make a LOT of money so just do YOUR part so you and Sony can make more money. I have no love for developers any more as you can see by how long my post is, these cats whine and B.I. bout what others are doing but where are YOUR games when will they release how long will you delay it ,these are the real problems with the PS3 sales.
Most developers choose console while thinking of which makes most money... don't they think on anything than themselves!? What about us who likes the game to look real and have more than 20 stages in a game!? I mean, those developers are usually rich, so they probably got all the consoles, they should know that the PS3 is the only console capable of making a game that will recieve 9.9 at IGN (10 is just a myth since Ninja Gaiden didn't get it)
[sarcasm]I usually buy my consoles before anything is worthwhile and when people are still whining over sales figures. Don't make any games until the console has sold enough so that good games can come out.[/sarcasm] Let's look at M$ sales figu...oh wait, only shipping figures, including RROD replacements. Maybe they'll count the games shipped instead of sold.
What I don't understand is that people complain and they don't really have any creditbility..... Make more games and stop changing the release dates all of the time and you'll get progress and more process.....
