With Ratchet & Clack Future: Tools of Destruction releasing a mere month from today, news has come regarding its technical specifications.
Straight from Insomniac's Full Moon Show comes captivating information regarding framerate, resolution and disc size of Ratchet and Clank's upcoming adventure.
Set to run at 60 fps, the title will support both 720p and 1080i. For all you Resistance fans, they promise that all of their upcoming PS3 titles will support 60 fps (and that means Resistance 2 as well). Back to Ratchet and Clank, the title will take up a whopping 22 GB of a 25 GB Blu-ray disc. Even without the localizations, the title couldn't fit on a DVD9.
Be sure to check out the Ratchet & Clank Future demo on PlayStation Store on October 4th, followed by the full release on October 23rd.

Beautiful. I Can't wait to get this.
Never played Ratchet & Clank before, but there seems to be a lot of hype for this game. Hopefully a demo will be released soon on the PSN. I will try that out before I go out of my way to get it.
Nice to hear someone take a firm stance on an absolute framerate. I'm sure their fans will appreciate this.
i still have to finish part 2 and 3 and maybe the PSP game before going into this one.
Demo 10/04/07! Im buying this it looks tight can't wait 4 this fall/winter more games.. PEACE!
ratchet and clank is a cool game, might be getting this.
psn id: gingo.... i really cant wait for this its gonna be awesome and btw i didn't even know resistance was only 30 fps that just shows how much it doesn't matter
"the title will take up a whopping 22 GB of a 25 GB Blu-ray disc" - this clearly shows that as next-gen gaming grows, the DVD9 is beginning to make some serious restrictions on how much content a game can hold. Seems like in the long run the PS3 and its Blu-ray Disc is the only viable option for next-gen games.

*Cough* 4-disc Lost Odyssey *Cough*
ratchet and clank rocks
resistance 2 ahhhhhh oooooo o god o god o god....... I just came! thanks Ratchet and Clank for at least getting me wood
sweet cant wait for this one!!
22GBs, umhp, Well if you have the space why not use it eh?
Sounds sweet. The 360 has a game coming out on 4 dvds. I cant remember what the title is though.
^ the game is called Lost Odyssey
and yea the R&C series is great. I still have two of them, though. Can't wait to pick this one up!
sweet demo on the 4th, that will tie me over untill oct. 23rd.
wow, a huge 22GBs
wow. i thot the era of multi-disk games died with psone (cant remember any multi-disk PS2 games) and here comes microsquash ressurecting it with its old-hardware-place-in-a-new-looking-box.
Well, i guess you can say the Dot.Hack games are multi-disk... sort of.
Cool news, The 360 has an RPG coming out, I can't think of the name, but it will have 4 discs, its on the g4 site, and I read some of the posts made by 360 fans, and they say that multi-discs don't matter, then they went on to bash the PS3, so I left the site...
60fps alrite, more people will love it, I know it's still great with 30fps, but still people do like 60fps over anyway..... I, myself, love 60fps.
Ratchet & Clank is a pretty solid series - all good.
awsome i've played all the ratchet and clank games and Ratchet: Deadlocked so obviously im pumped for this game. 60fps will make this game so much better. And RESISTANCE 2 WITH 60fps WILL BE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS2 had ONE title that I can remember off the top of my head that needed more than one disc, it was called Devil May Cry 2. That's about all I can remember, but damn, The so called "Next Generation" and the 360 needs 4 discs to put out one game?! And I thought the three discs on Blue Dragon were crazy!
PSU, you are one of the worst sources on the interent. Your information is unreliable, your journalism poor, and you really screwed things up with your story on Famitsu's "Game that will save PS3!" I love my PS3, but sites like this one piss me off simply for the fact that you make PS3 owners look like idiots. Very unprofessional PSU, very unprofessional.
The only problem I see with Multi-Disc contents are the restriction that applied. Take Final Fantasy VII for example on the PSone, if you played to the third or the fourth disc, you were restricted from doing certain things that you may have forgotten or didn't know that you can do. Developers will need to lock out certain earlier portions of the game in order to fit in new ones to progress the story. The benefit of have the entire game in one disc is that the game is truly limitless in term of exploration and open-endedness.
Ratchet and Clank looks very good, the first three games are fun to play and I don't think that this one will be any different. Why fix something that is not broken, you can only improve it, ala new weapon upgrade system. Download the trailer on PSN and enjoy all the fuzzball mayhem.
Already prepaid this game...total no-brainer purchase. Keep the great games coming.
most anticipated game of 07'
i cant wait!
Im a huge fan of this games got all of them, cant wait for Rachet and Clank for PS3.
day 1 purchase for me.
While I'm a bit tired of waiting for Sony to get with the program (true online community; better store with offerings like movies, TV, and music; in-game messaging and custom soundtracks) I do feel like when Sony does come around it's going to be huge.
Second of all, with 25GB at developers' disposal it's only a matter of time before they realize that PS3 is the platform of the future. Blu-Ray is getting a bad rap now but it will more than justify itself in the next 2 or so years.
32nd post!!
