SCEE aiming for Q2 release for WipEout HD

Posted on March 14th, 2008 at 09:55 EDT

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has said in an email that it hoping to release WipEout HD in the second quarter of 2008.

Speaking to videogaming247, the company stated, “We haven’t announced a release date for WipEout HD yet but we’re targeting Q2.”

Developed by Sony’s Liverpool Studio, WipEout HD is a forthcoming downloadable title for the PlayStation Network, featuring 1080p high definition graphics, Dolby 5.1 sound as well as a plethora of tracks from both WipEout Pure and WipEout Pulse.

The game will also take advantage of the PlayStation 3’s Sixaxis controller, allowing gamers to manipulate their craft by tilting the direction of the pad. A photo mode will also be included.

Stay tuned for more information on the game as it breaks.

that's nice but when are they going to make a real wipeout for ps3 with physiques and damage as good as burnout paradise, that would be cool and alot better than just a crappy hd version of a psp game

The last thing I think of when playing WipEout Pulse is (damn, I wish this was more like Burnout with slow-mo crashes and ships flying apart) what I DO think is I wish I had a proper controller with analog triggers for airbrakes, beautiful clear HD graphics at a solid 60fps, fast loadtimes, online play with my PSN friendslist.. things that make WipEout easier to play. If you PLAYED the game you'd probably realise it's such a huge upgrade that the tracks don't even seem to be classics from the other games.

How many Wipeout games are there on the store? It seems that Sony is always talking about this every now and then.
