Square was in talks for FFXI PS3 port, says TanakaStarting October 1st, Sony will be touring the UK in hopes to promote the PlayStation 3 as a media entertainment hub, not just a gaming console.
The tour will last until the end of the year and will hit several major cities, including several large malls, and the O2 Arena in London. Sony hopes to show off some of the finer details and features of the system.
“The main aim of the PS3 UK Tour is to showcase those capabilities which stretch beyond the realms of gaming to include HD pictures, music, photography, PlayStation Network and PSP compatibility,” said SCE UK Trade Marketing Manager, Rosemary Buahin.
“PlayStation 3 is a super-computer that fits naturally in the living room environment. With this in mind, we have created demonstration units which will allow consumers to freely experience the PS3 throughout the tour.”
Expect to see a large Blu-ray promotion as part of this tour, and, as always, check back for more information as it becomes available.

It was only a matter of time. I knew Sony would come to their senses. Damn it feels good to know that, just bring that tour to the US and The PS3 might finish this race by the end of the year on top.
Your right Naucious23. Once people realize that the price of the PS3 is worth it because of all its options, PS3 will start to sell more.
Of course once Blu-Ray is on top, that might attract more attention to it as well because of its Blu-Ray drive.
I have no doubt in my mind that sony's blue ray is going to come out on top in the later years. This war is going to last for about 2 maybe 3 more years, because it's still early, because not a lot of studios have enough content to put on such a massive capacity disc but soon enough they will find ways to fill the storage space of BD. Plus Sony has it's own motion picture studios so all they really need is to make good movies so they will be BD exclusives but who knows I guess.....
I feel like Blu-Ray already win. Blu-Ray is gaining support by more companies joining, HD-DVD have to buy support and they not buying alot of it
Wasn't this the strategy that failed miserably when Ken tried it?
psn id: gingo.... if this comes to glasgow/paisley i will be going to see how sony market their console and see what else they have in store for the future
I dissagree - One game has done more to aid PSP than all the UMD Movies combined.
If Sony ran demo's of Bluray movies in stores people will say... yeah it's a movie and I saw that at the cinema - it was good. So what?
If Sony ran playable demo's of MGS4 in stores ... sales of PS3 would double.
