Star Wars meet Soul Calibur, Soul Calibur this is Star Wars. This is all the introduction the two franchises needed as both have come together to excite fans of both with the latest news of their partnership together.
The Soul Calibur titles have long been one of the most heralded fighting franchises in video gaming, being praised for their excellent graphics and gameplay mechanics. As if they needed anything else to separate themselves from the competition, they went out and teamed with the most storied franchise in the history of entertainment, Star Wars, to add two new playable characters to the upcoming Soul Calibur IV.
The two characters chosen to be in the next version of Soul Calibur have been Yoda and Darth Vader, and rightfully so. These two characters are two of the most important characters throughout the entire saga of films and are instantly recognizable and are certain to add a level of intrigue to gamers and non-gamers alike to the newest Soul Calibur game. Yoda will make his debut on the Xbox 360 while Darth Vader will be featured exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
Soul Calibur IV will mark the fifth installment in Namco's Soul series of fighting games. Namco has announced that the game will be released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2008, perhaps in the Spring in North America, and rumored for Europe in Spring 2008 or Summer 2008. Stay tuned for any new developments regarding Soul Calibur & Star wars. May the force be with you.

ummmm... cool?
LOL reminds me of when they did this sort of thing for SC II. Call it Soul Wars from now on lol.
How Namco got the license for this to happen I have no idea! But in an act of desperate times in the franchise....this is pretty ___ cool anyways!! I've never seen any Star Wars characters in a fighting game, and this is such a great game to start on. As for the exclusive characters, no doubt that if Namco is smart/greedy enough...we should be able to either be rewarded with new characters after completion of the game several times OR BUY THEM ON PSN!!! (most likely outcome).
Start Wars FTW!!!
Sorry if the pictures aren't always working guys. We're having a server issue where the two databases aren't working seamlessly together.
There was a Star Wars Fighting game, believe it or not called Masters of Teras Kasi. Man was that aweful.
Uncool: Thanks. A 10 year old game from PSOne. The pics I just looked at looks pretty average even for that century, and I think I'll take your word on it about how the game was....that I don't want to see on PSN!
I was getting this game anyways. PSU has to change their release date on it though cuz i think its due in Joon.
@Unkool ... Masters wasn't that bad.
tom, I just checked a couple of sites, but can't find a concrete date, do you happen to have one?
@DaveW ... I don't know the exact day. I just remebering reading about a june release somewhere.
BTW Vader > Yoda .... so .... ps3 version > 360 version
I'll keep looking for a specific month then, just to make sure... Then I'll have it updated.
Due to exclusiveness on the Star Wars characters, apparently we (PS3 owners) are on the Dark Side of the Force! That's cool though, that's where I belong.
Anyways, when they play this on X360 and the RROD comes up....they're minds will be clouded by the "force" to send off the X360 to M$. ^o_o^
So Yoda will "debut" on the 360 while the PS3 gets "Exclusive" DV? Does that mean that the PS3 will get Yoda as well? From that it sounds that way.
@Daz... no dude. they're both exclusive to their consoles. so if your fighting online and the other dude/dudette is yoda, then your fighting an xbot
Vader owns yoda, but I guess the color schemes had alot to do with that decision. Its too bad Virtua Fighter killed my need/want for fighting games, man that game blew something awful.
feel the dark side of the force!! in this case, the dark side of gaming^^
They look beautiful.
i think that yoda isnt a good choice for it, a red star wars character would have better suited it lol!
I really hope they include more guest characters than one.

Anyway Dave, I looked it up, and I don't know how credible it is but I saw the release date is June 2 on EB Games/GameStop website.
is it really possible to play SC IV cross platforms???
EPIC .. We get Darth Vader ? .. AWESOME !
Thers not much else to say... Vader = T3h Win
Man,i wanna play as Yoda.
this isnt act of desperation, its awesome, just look at darth vader and yoda in hd :D btw if they really concentrate and develop those 2 or darth in my case to top character it may be my fav char depending on how well they make his combat
psn id: gingo.... wow!!!! definitely was not expecting this, cant wait to play as darth vader that should be awesome
Thank god we get Darth Vadar! I wouldn't want to play as Yoda, anyway.
great
It makes sense, Xbox's main color is green= Yoda, and the Playstation 3's main color is a nice sleek Black= Darth Vader, come, join the dark side, koooow, puuur(vader breathing)...
how are they gonna hit yoda????
Lol! Nice! Especially the Darth Vader -> PS3, Yoda -> Xbox 360 haha.
this looks COOL!!!!!!!! its a shame i wont get to play as yoda but vader is just as good. :)
Seriously this has got nothing to do with fanboyishness (is that a word?) but given the choice I'd be playing as Vader anyday. Yoda is cool and all - he probebly got some crazy little shifty moves, but Darth Vader is.. Darth Vader. The dude is just so iconic and sooooooo f***ing awesome its not funny. Probebly wont get the game, but the PS3 did get the right one this time.
